Punnet squares are used to figure out what genetics the offspring has. The basic way to use it is to put the mother's genetic letters on top and the father's letters on the left side. Then it is basically like a multiplication table. You bring the top letter down and the left letter over. So, in each of the four squares, it should look like this, Aa or AA or aa. The point of this is mainly used in genetics. I learned about it this year. it is actually kind-of fun because we got try and figure out the different traits that the children would have. In conclusion, punnet squares are used in genetics to help determine what traits the offspring will have. |
